RUCSN Professional Support Coordinator Western Australia (PSCWA) is the central contact point for services that require support. The PSC will maintain links with the Inclusion Support Agencies and will refer services to these agencies if appropriate.
By phoning the Helpline, or e-mailing us, eligible child care services can access:
• Telephone support/advice and resource materials
• Referral to Professional Support Service Providers for customised support around priority areas (these are identified through the Needs Analysis).
• Referral to appropriate agencies for further advice and support.
• Support and advice about the NCAC Accreditation process, and referral to NCAC endorsed training where required.
• Support and advice around including all children, including children from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse background, refugee children and Indigenous children.
• Access to resources such as the professional library, policies and fact sheets through a membership with the RUCSN Resource Centre.
The Professional Support Program will also include provision for sponsorship of significant child care related conferences and publications. Funding will be targeted at conferences and publications with a clear focus on improving the quality of child care service provision, raising awareness of identified issues or initiatives, and improving access for rural and remote services.
The Inclusion and Professional Support Program (IPSP) is an integrated approach to meeting the inclusion and professional support needs of Australian Government Approved Child Care Services (AGACCS).
These services include Outside School Hours Care, Vacation Care, Family Day Care Schemes, In-Home Care, Occasional Care, Long Day Care and Multifunctional Aboriginal Children’s Services.
The aim is to promote and maintain high quality care and inclusion for all children in eligible child care services, by building capacity and facilitating positive change in Child Care services that results in inclusive environments and enhancements to the quality of service provision.
RUCSN's PSC program is designed to deliver a coordinated approach to supporting children's services. The RUCSN PSC program provides professional development and support through a network of PSSPs, the Bicultural Support program, provision of resources and specialist equipment.
RUCSN PSCWA will develop collaborative approaches to respond to current and emerging professional development and support needs in the Child Care sector.
Bicultural support is part of a capacity building program under the Inclusion and Professional Support Program (IPSP). Bicultural and inclusion support are provided as a collaborative approach by BISSWA (Bicultural Inclusion Support Service Western Australia) and Inclusion Support Agencies (ISAs).
