2009 WA Childcare Awards

The 2009 Western Australian Childcare Awards was an outstanding success. Over 150 people attended the Awards Ceremony at Burswood on Swan on October 23, 2009. The evening recognised the dedication and professionalism of those working in the front line of early childhood education and care and the impact early childhood education and care professionals have on the future outcomes of our community’s children.

The five Award categories recognised the leaders in service delivery, those who have gone that bit further to surpass accepted standards. To all services who received nominations for awards, we extend our congratulations - receiving a nomination for an award reflects your dedication, professionalism and innovation in your daily work.

And, to the five Award winners, it is an outstanding achievement that you have been recognized by your sector colleagues for your dedication and commitment.

L to R: Rhonda Kemmers, City of Stirling “On the Bus” Programme; Sue Marsh and Colleen Western, Linga Longa Childcare Centre Esperance; Dawson Ruhl, CEO Child Australia; Bernadette McCavana, Balga Salvation Army Child Care Centre; Samantha Peacock, YMCA Early Learning Centre, Bunbury; Ewa Sokolowska, Salisbury Childcare Centre, Bayswater
We would also like to acknowledge the support of sponsors. Firstly, the Department of Employment, Education and Workplace Relations who, via funding CHILD Australia’s Professional Support Coordinator, made the 2009 Western Australian Childcare Awards possible.

We would also like to acknowledge the Department of Communities, Yorganup, and YMCA for sponsoring individual award categories. In addition, CareWest contributed funds for the Awards ceremony and Lotterywest contributed funds towards the travel expenses of our regional nominees.
