A research project is currently being conducted exploring the ways in which courage and leadership are understood and have been experienced by a diverse range of early childhood professionals.

Caroline Fewster Action Research 2012

The following action research project will be going ahead at a reduced cost.

ASSESSMENT AND DOCUMENTATION PROJECT – From Practice to Paper; exploring the many possibilities to collect, document and interpret the information educators gather to assess children’s learning.

The aim of this project is to gain an overview of a services’ journey from challenges to success and how environments shape children’s behaviours and learning. These aims will be achieved through evaluation, reflection and individual coaching. There will be one-on-one coaching after each session to help the participant bring what they have learnt into practice and to allow the participants to focus on goal attainment throughout the project.


Part 1 – Tuesday April 17

Enables educators in partnership with families, children and other professionals to communicate about children’s learning and progress.


Part 2 – Tuesday May 8
Examines how the five EYLF learning outcomes provide early childhood Educators with key reference points against which children’s progress can be identified and communicated to families.

Part 3 – Friday June 22
An opportunity to design a workshop to take back to the particular children’s service to promote the expansion of the range of ways that educators assess, and to ensure assessment is richer and more useful.

All workshops will be conducted at:
Venue: Wollaston Conference Centre, Wollaston Rd Mt Claremont
Times: 9.30am – 4.00pm
Cost: $160 (includes registration for all three parts and catering)

Growing Up Bilingual In Australia: An Investment Bilingualism Conference 2012

The first statewide Conference on Bilingualism & Languages Learning – providing a Forum for Educators , Children’s Services professionals , families & the community to understand, initiate & promote Bilingual Children’s Services environments and Home Language Maintenance Programs & resources.

The conference is a one day program with keynote speakers, panel discussions and workshops which aims to highlight the importance of growing up bilingual in Australia and the importance of languages learning by:

  • Linking Bilingualism & languages learning to the Early Years Learning Framework

  • Panel discussions & workshops on Bilingualism-Issues of Concern, Implications for Policy, Practice and Pedagogy

  • Information on the importance and benefits of Bilingualism and home language maintenance • Practical Programming Bilingualism, Home Language Maintenance & languages learning strategies

  • Launch of DVD “Bilingualism and Languages Learning”

  • Launch of new resource “Survival Words for Children’s Services” Booklet

  • Information Stalls, exhibitions, Bilingual Resources & Book stall
